Jesus vs. the Dragon

dragonThe “dragon” of Revelation 12:17 wages war against whom? “Those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.” Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command.” (John 14:15) The enemy knows that—and that “those who hear the word of God and obey it” are blessed. (Luke 11:28) So the enemy will aim to undermine the Word itself and the importance of obeying it. We need to spring into high-alert mode when find ourselves accepting those “experts” on TV or in books who blurt out things against the Word, like, “Of course, we know that Isaiah didn’t really write Isaiah.” (Uh, Jesus said he did.) And let’s think twice about the implications when we hear friends (or ourselves!) say things like “Christianity is not about commandments; it’s about relationship” (it’s both!) or “Well, I know the Bible says ___, but I think ___.” (Really? Of all the nerve.) In Revelation 19, another one is waging war, the rider on the white horse. “His name is the Word of God.” (v. 13)
