Could you sleep at night if the only “gods” available to help you had no more qualifications than Kenny, Mary, Johnny, Yogi, and… yourself?
Thankfully, that’s not the case! But those of us who intend to follow only the one true, triune God might need to ramp up efforts to be more alert. What does that mean? It means making sure of the beliefs of those writers/teachers we’re following—as well as investigating who they’re following! Someone who’s mixed up about God surely isn’t the best person to lead us closer to God.
